Meridian Therapy

Are Your Meridians Out Of Balance?

Picture
  • There are 12 Main Meridians in Meridian Therapy, 6 of which are yin, and 6 are yang, plus numerous minor ones. These Meridians form a network of energy channels throughout the body.

  • Each Meridian is named after the organ or function to which it relates. The main Meridians are: lung, kidney, gallbladder, stomach, spleen, heart, small intestine, large intestine, urinary bladder, san jiao (three heater) and pericardium (heart protector or circulation sex meridian).

  • The Chinese term for Meridians is “jing luo,” which means channels, or conduits. These invisible channels are where “chi,” or energy, circulates throughout the body.

In Acupuncture, specific points along each Meridian are locations where the chi of the channels rises close to the surface of the body. The chakras supply chi and blood to the 12 regular Meridians. Each chakra is aligned with a specific color, frequency, emotion, tissue, structure, etc.

The Triad of Health

The Triad of Health is well represented in acupuncture. Patients ask, “What makes me out of balance in the first place?” and “What influences can destroy the balance that has been restored by treatment?” The answer is that there are three, and only three, influences that affect energy balance within the body: structural, chemical, and emotional.

  • Structural – This includes the physical being of yourself. Factors include: inadequate motion, removed parts, incisions, scars, etc.
  • Chemical – Everything you eat, drink, breathe, or otherwise allow access to your body.
  • Emotional – Every thought your choose to allow yourself to think. All possible emotions are not only necessary to express, but proper expressions of emotion actually facilitates balance and well being. You should allow yourself to express all your emotions, but for no longer than 5-10 minutes. Expressing the emotion is positive to your health. After approximately 10 minutes, these emotions become destructive to balance and well being. This is the only third of the Triad of Health that people have the option to control 100%.

When Chi flows freely through the meridians, the body is balanced and healthy, but if the energy becomes blocked, stagnated or weakened, it can result in physical, mental or emotional ill health, and vice versa.

An imbalance in a person’s body can result from inappropriate emotional fixations such as: excess anger, over-excitement, self-pity, deep grief and fear. Environmental factors such as cold, damp/humidity, wind, dryness, and heat can also cause imbalance.

By stimulating the appropriate acupuncture points along the meridians, it is possible to release blockages, thus restoring the body to its natural state.
